Originally the production of this drink was from local agricultural products cheaper and abundant as wheat, corn, potatoes, sugar cane or a combination of any of these. The process consisted of a simple and rapid filtration ferment these vegetables using a filter-based charcoal, instead of an expensive and lengthy process of distillation. The purified liquid was then reduced without stale (aging itself) to be water drinkable by adding distilled water and then bottled.

The vodka or 'vodka', is the national alcoholic drink of Russia and Poland, where in both countries the "w" is pronounced as a "v". Its meaning is 'little water', a delicate and diminutive form of call water.

The result of this development cycle was and still is a colorless and odorless product with a high alcohol content.

The vodkas produced in Russia containing 40% alcohol and Poland reached 45º alcohol.

Before World War II, the vodka was a product consumed only in Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Slavic and Baltic countries. After the war the production and consumption of vodka increased dramatically because began to occur and take in Western countries, mainly in America.

TYPES OF VODKA

Each producing country developed the vodka from raw to different production methods and distillation.

In England and America, its production was geared towards improving the distillation process from cereals and grains, while in Eastern Europe, to that obtained from the pope. Because of this, in Western consumer areas there is a clear preference for vodka from grains and eastern areas to the potato.
