An American dark comedy-drama series created by Jenji Kohan. The show is a widowed mother of two boys named Nancy Botwin who begins selling marijuana to support her family after her husband dies of a heart attack. Throughout the course of the series she and her family become increasingly involved in illegal activities, focused around the marijuana industry.

The first three seasons are set in fictional town of Agrestic, California. Later the family moves to San Diego, Seattle, Dearborn, MI, New York City, and Connecticut.

The show debuted on Showtime on August 7, 2005. The finale aired on September 16, 2012. It has won many awards including one Golden Globe Award, a Writers Guild of America Award, and 2 Emmy Awards.
