The greater the number of routes that converge on a settlement, the greater its nodality and, therefore, its accessibility. Indicators such as the Konig Number and shimbel index are used to measure the accessibility of a place within a network. In economic studies, it is more about time and cost. An accessible location is one that minimizes the costs of distance and contact with linked activities. In social studies, it refers to the degree to which different social groups are able to obtain goods and services - for example, the poor have much less accessibility to good housing and luxury goods than the rich.
