The Great Mother, mythological daughter of Saturn and Ops and sister of Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto, Juno and Vesta. An asteroid seen by modern astrologers as significant, now arousing considerable interest. Despite being lauded as the "Great Mother", Ceres appears generally to be a malefic, especially signifying grief and loss. Ceres was the first asteroid to be discovered (January 1, 1801 by Giuseppe Piazzi, using Bode's Law). It was reclassified by astronomers in 2006 as a "dwarf planet". More about Ceres.
