ganzfeld experiment

A technique using the ganzfeld effect to test individuals for extrasensory perception (ESP). In the experiment, the participant is placed in a room in a comfortable chair, halved ping-pong balls over the eyes, headphones playing white noise, and a red light shone on them for half an hour. During the time the participant is being mildly deprived of changing stimuli, a "sender" tries to mentally send information about a randomly chosen object. The participant speaks out loud for that half hour about what he or she can see. After the half hour is over, the participant is taken out of the ganzfeld state and presented a set of objects. The participant must choose which object most resembled the images they saw during the experiment.
