tug of war

A classic game where two teams compete against each other in a test of strength. In the game, two teams are placed at opposite ends of a thick rope. The center of the rope is marked on the ground and two lines equidistant from the center is marked on the rope. The goal is to pull the rope so that the opponent's mark on the rope crosses the center point.

Tug of war has been played since the early 16th century. It was an Olympic sport from 1900 to 1920.
