Genetic engineering

The science of modifying and manipulating genes to create new artificial DNA or synthetic genes of different organisms. There are many purposes for genetic engineering, some of which include finding better treatment for diseases, or simply for discovering new organism of interest.

Contributors in Genetic engineering

Genetic engineering

tubulin

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The major protein component of the microtubules of eukaryotic cells.

Vmax

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The maximal rate of an enzyme-catalysed reaction. V max is the product of E o (the total amount of enzyme) times the value of K eat (the catalytic rate constant).

cell membrane

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The membrane that separates the cell wall and the cytoplasm, and regulates the flow of material into and out of the cell.

catabolism

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The metabolic breakdown of large molecules in living organism, with accompanying release of energy.

sex determination

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The method by which the distinction between males and females is established in a species.

mesoderm

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The middle germ layer that forms in the early animal embryo and gives rise to parts such as bone and connective tissue.

mammary glands

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The milk-producing organs of female mammals, which provide food for the young.
