Genetic engineering

The science of modifying and manipulating genes to create new artificial DNA or synthetic genes of different organisms. There are many purposes for genetic engineering, some of which include finding better treatment for diseases, or simply for discovering new organism of interest.

Contributors in Genetic engineering

Genetic engineering

native protein

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The naturally occurring form of a protein.

oosphere

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The non-motile female gamete in plants and some algae.

nucleoplasm

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The non-staining or slightly chromophilic, liquid or semi-liquid, ground substance of the interphase nucleus and which fills the nuclear space around the chromosomes and the nucleoli. Little is known ...

antiparallel orientation

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The normal arrangement of the two strands of a DNA molecule, and of other nucleic-acid duplexes (DNA-RNA, RNA-RNA), in which the two strands are oriented in opposite directions so that the ...

B-DNA

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The normal form of DNA found in biological systems. It exists as a right-handed helix.

origin of replication

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The nucleotide sequence at which DNA synthesis (replication) is initiated.

consensus sequence

Biotechnology; Genetic engineering

The nucleotide sequence that is present in the majority of genetic signals or elements that perform a specific function.
