Natural gas

Natural gas is a naturally occurring hydrocarbon gas mixture consisting primarily of methane, with up to 20 % of other hydrocarbons as well as impurities in varying amounts such as carbon dioxide. Natural gas is widely used as an important energy source in many applications including heating buildings, generating electricity, providing heat and power to industry, as fuel for vehicles and as a chemical feedstock in the manufacture of products such as plastics and other commercially important organic chemicals.

Contributors in Natural gas

Natural gas

lift check valve

Energy; Natural gas

A type of check valve in which the flow contrl element moves parallel to the direction of fluid flow; the force of the fluid lifts the flow control element off its seat.

linear flow characteristic

Energy; Natural gas

A flow characteristic where equal increments fo flow control element travel distance produce equal increments of change of flow rate through the valve. Flow rate is directly proportional to the ...

linear valve actuator

Energy; Natural gas

An actuator that produces linear motion for use with valves having translating stems; that is, gate, globe, and diaphragm valves.

linear-to- rotary actuator

Energy; Natural gas

A valve actuator that converts the output of a linear device to rotary motion for use with valves having rotating shafts, that is, ball valves, butterfly valves, and plug valves.

lined butterfly valve

Energy; Natural gas

A design of a butterlfy valve that has a body liner and a disc whose axis of rotation passes through the seating surfaces of the disc and body ( generally referred to as "conventional" disc).

liner

Energy; Natural gas

A non-metallic covering applied to the inside of the body of a valve. Liners are used mostly on butterfly valves, plug valves, and diaphrgam valves for corrossion resistance.

liquid penetrant inspection

Energy; Natural gas

A nondestructive method of detecting the presence of surface cracks and imperfections through use of a special red Locking device Any valve attachment whose purpose is to prevent the operation of the ...
