Immunology
Immunology is the study of the structuree and function of the immune system which is responsible for the protection from invading foreign macromolecules or organisms. It is a broad branch of biomedical science that covers the study of all aspects of the immune system in organisms. It deals with the physiological functioning of the immune system in both healthy states and immunological disorders (autoimmune diseases, hypersensitivities, immune deficiency, transplant rejection); the physical, chemical and physiological characteristics of the components of the immune system in vitro, in situ, and in vivo.

type I hypersensitivity reactions
Biology; Immunology
Hypersensitivity reactions are classified by mechanism: type I hypersensitivity reactions involve IgE antibody triggering of mast cells; type II hypersensitivity reactions involve IgG antibodies ...
complementarity determining regions
Biology; Immunology
The complementarity determining regions (CDRs) of immuno-globulins and T-cell receptors are the parts of these molecules that determine their specificity and make contact with specific ligand. The ...
heavy chain
Biology; Immunology
All immunoglobulin molecules have two types of chain, a heavy chain (H chain) of 50–70 kDa and a light chain of 25 kDa. The basic immunoglobulin unit consists of two identical heavy chains and two ...
Epstein–Barr virus
Biology; Immunology
The Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) is a herpesvirus that selectively infects human B cells by binding to complement receptor 2 (CR2, also known as CD21). It causes infectious mononucleosis and establishes ...
immunohistochemistry
Biology; Immunology
The detection of antigens in tissues by means of visible products produced by the degradation of a colorless substrate by antibody-linked enzymes is called immunohistochemistry. This technique has ...
immunofluorescence
Biology; Immunology
Immunofluorescence is a technique for detecting molecule using antibodies labeled with fluorescent dyes. The bound fluorescent antibody can be detected by microscopy, or by flow cytometry depending ...
adaptor proteins
Biology; Immunology
The adaptor proteins are key linkers between receptors and downstream members of signaling pathways. These proteins are functionally heterogeneous, but all use a similar domain, known as an SH2 ...
